Motor Milestone and Torticollis Resources

Brooke

When baby girl was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and torticollis, I went on the hunt for helpful social media / online sites to learn more about physical therapy moves and other tips and tricks. Here are some of the resources that I found to be the most useful:

Instagram Accounts

Baby Begin - This is a page dedicated to educational content on plagiocephaly (flat head) and torticollis. It has simple and easy to understand posts about identifying flat spots, how to properly do stretches, and other tips and tricks on what types of containers are safe or should be avoided when dealing with torticollis.

Kinactive_kids - This page provides content geared towards motor development, including tummy time, rolling, sitting, crawling, etc. It also provides recommendations on products to use or avoid.

bloomwellPT - An account focused on pediatric physical therapy. Bite-sized information on how to achieve developmental milestones.

milestones.and.motherhood - An account focused more broadly on motor milestones for little ones.

themilestonementor - An account focusing on addressing tension, torticollis and milestones.

Other Online Resources

Pathways.org - This website has informational videos and tracking for motor, sensory, communication, and feeding milestones grouped by age from newborn to 6 years. It also has information on a variety of other topics, such as baby proofing, bonding, books/reading, and more.

ChoosePT - Physical Therapy Guide to Torticollis - This website provides a simple explanation of torticollis, signs and symptoms to look out for, and directions on what to do next.

Hospital website - A lot of children's hospitals and offices have online guides on torticollis and different stretching techniques. Just a Google search away!

There are many other resources and accounts out there, but these were ones that I found helpful. Make sure that it aligns with your specific doctor's recommendations!
